Hello Pelham Gardens Middle School Parents,
There are two important pieces of information I need to share with you.
First, tomorrow, September 18th, you will receive a call from one of your child's advisors to introduce themselves. The call will take place between 4:00pm and 7:00pm. So, please stay alert for that phone call. Your child's advisor may be able to answer some general academic or classroom related questions you may have.
Second, in the interest of making sure your child's absence is reported correctly, our school has created a student absence reporting email address.
Missing out on school means missing out on learning. Missing even one day of school can make children fall behind in class. Just 2 absences per month can add up to missing 1 full month of school. This counts for all absences, even excused absences. Good attendance starts early.
Tips:
Talk to your child about why attendance is important.
Use a calendar to keep track of your child's absences from school.
Schedule regular check-ups at the doctor on school holidays.
Set bedtime and morning routines.
Talk to school staff if getting to school on time is hard.

TODAY IS THE DAY!!!
The PTA's first meeting of the school year is TODAY at 5:30pm, in the auditorium.
If you have any suggested activities, events or fundraiser ideas for the PTA, or any concerns or question you would like to present to the Executive Board, please have them ready. The Executive Board Members of the PTA will bring some important matter to the parent members' (and teachers') attention as stated in previous emails and messages.
Also, our esteemed Principal Mr. McGhie will make an early appearance at tonight's meeting to speak to the parents and staff members in attendance. He will be able to answer some Admin-level questions parents may have about schoolwide, districtwide or citywide policies.

The Parent-Teacher Association Executive Board is the governing body of the of Pelham Gardens Middle School Parent-Teacher Association. Some of them also serve as elected members of the School Leadership Team (SLT). These are the parent members who were duly elected by the other parent members of the Parent Members to be the heads of the PA/PTA and the voices of the parents of Pelham Gardens Middle School. They are tasked with fostering parent participation and involvement in the school, and coordinating fundraisers, soliciting parent volunteers for school events, fostering relationships with local businesses/organizations for potential sponsorships of PTA activities and setting/managing monthly parent meetings. They also represent the school at district meetings and represent the parents at School Leadership Team (SLT) meetings.
