  The PTA Executive Board would like to welcome you to join them on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 5:30pm for the 4th Parent-Teacher Association meeting of the 2023-2024 school year. The meeting will be held both in-person, and virtually via Zoom.

  There are BRAND NEW agenda items that the PTA Board must discuss with parents such as:

  • - Picture Day for 6th and 7th grade coming up on May 15th.
  • - An awesome Mother's Day fundraiser. - The experience of a Trip to Amish Country.
  • - A possible field day for the event.
  • - and PTA elections.

  It is very important that you attend this meeting as it is the last meeting before elections and the second to last meeting for the school year. Register for the meeting now.   The PTA Executive Board invites all parents and staff to join them TONIGHT at 5:30pm for the 3rd Parent-Teacher Association meeting of the 2023-2024 school year.  The meeting will be held both in-person, and virtually via Zoom.

  As you may know by now, there are new items on the agenda that the PTA Executive Board needs to discuss with the Parent Members and Staff Members in attendance.  Some of which include:

  - The potential for a Schoolwide Science Fair.
  - Having dress down days for students twice a month as a fundraiser.
  - Hosting a Career Day for the students.
  - Coordinating an Out-of-State Trip for 6th & 7th grade students.
  - as well as other important information parents (and staff) need to know.

  Member (parent and staff) participation for the previous meetings has been phenomenal, so let's continue the momentum.

  Please be aware that:

  1. Tomorrow, Friday, December 22, 2023 is "Winter, Plaid or Holiday Theme Pajama Day".  You can view the flyer (with the dress down guidelines) here:   https://docs.google.com/document/d/1AbZIauHn_9VESDV2vWrXA9lhF_65xJh3UZhzr4qdFmQ/edit?usp=sharing.  All 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who were given an invitation can participate.  You can email Ms. Hennessey at ahennessey@schools.nyc.gov or reach out to her on Class Dojo if you are not sure as to whether your child received an invitation or not.
  2.   3. Also, NYC schools will be closed for Winter Break from Monday, December 25, 2023 until Monday, January 1, 2024.  All students return to school on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

• Join The PTA For Meeting #2 on December 11, 2023

  The PTA Executive Board will hold the 2nd Parent-Teacher Association meeting of the 2023-2024 school year on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 5:30pm.

  The meeting will be held in-person at our school building at 2545 Gunther Avenue Bronx, New York 10469. The option to attend virtually will be provided on the day of the meeting.

  All parent members and staff members (that means you) are cordially invited (and highly encouraged) to attend the meeting. Our Executive Board of the PA/PTA will provide follow-up to last month's historic meeting and some new exciting information. Some of which include:
  - Results and winners for our recent raffle.
  - The class that had the most ticket sales.
  - The amount of funds raised from the raffle.
  - Upcoming events and activities for students.
  - and more information parents (and staff) need to know.

• The PTA Winter Wonderland Fundraiser Raffle is on Fire 🔥

  Hello Parent Members of the PGMS PTA,
  
  The PTA Winter Wonderland Fundraiser Raffle has been absolutely on fire 🔥. Students and their parents have been selling raffle tickets and doing an amazing job. So much so that the PTA is down to the last 8 raffle books (80 tickets). If any parents would like to get another book of tickets to sell, please reach out to me ASAP on Class Dojo or call me at (718) 794-9750 ext. 4263. I can send a permission slip (if you didn't sign and return one already) and the raffle book(s) home with your child today.
  
  Remember, the due date for all raffle stubs and money is (this Monday) December 4, 2023. The winners will be announced on (Tuesday) December 5, 2023.

• Last Night's PTA Meeting Was A Massive Success

  Parent Members and Staff Members (of the PTA),

  Last night's Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Meeting was a success.  We had a total of 57 students represented by parents last night, with 42 of those 57 students represented by parents who attended in-person.  While 57 students represents only 19% of the total 298 students in Pelham Gardens Middle School, this is a great start for the Parent-Teacher Association.  The Executive Board showed everyone yesterday exactly why they were elected as the parent leaders of Pelham Gardens Middle School.  And the parent members in attendance, both in-person and online, were very engaging and brought ideas and matters to the table that will benefit Pelham Gardens student in the coming months and years. It was great to see such a turn out for our students and we look forward to seeing even more parents at next month's PTA meeting.  That information will go out in the coming weeks.

  All students who had parent representation at last night's meeting received their Class Dojo points this morning.  There was not a class that had 100% representation by all students, 602 had the most parent representation with 32% (8/25).  While this is good, it does not get the prize.  Let's remember, if a class gets 100% representation by parent for a PTA meeting, each student in that class will receive 10 Dojo points towards the next trip or incentive and the class will get a pizza party.  So, that is something strive for.

• Winter Wonderland Raffle Fundraising Event

  Dearest Parent/Guardian:

  The PTA is sponsoring a Winter Wonderland fundraising event for students to participate. Parents must consent in order for students to receive raffle books. All monies and raffle stubs are due by December 4, 2023. The winners will be announced on December 5, 2023. Please make sure to complete all the required information on the raffle ticket:

  This is a friendly reminder that the first meeting of the Parent Association/Parent-Teacher Association (PA/PTA) of Pelham Gardens Middle School is coming this Monday, November 13, 2023 at 5:30pm.  The meeting will be held in-person at our school building at 2545 Gunther Avenue Bronx, New York 10469.

   

  Parents and Staff are cordially invited and encouraged to attend this meeting.  The newly elected Executive Board of the PA/PTA is excited to bring some matters to the table to discuss with all parents and staff in attendance.  Some of the matters include:

  SPECIAL INCENTIVE FOR STUDENTS:  Each student who gets their parents to attend the PTA meeting on Monday will receive 5 DOJO POINTS towards the next incentive or trip.  Each class that has 100% representation by their parents at the meeting will receive 10 DOJO POINTS towards the next incentive or trip and a PIZZA PARTY.  So get your parents to attend the PTA meeting on Monday.

  Pelham Gardens Middle School would like to send a huge THANK YOU to Ms. Patricia Moreta, a 6th grade parent, for accepting the Election Chairperson position for Thursday's (October 5th) elections.  She did a great job and we literally could not have conducted the elections without her taking on that vital role.  So, Ms. Moreta, we appreciate you and extend our deepest gratitude.

• After An Exciting and Very Successful Election, Here Are The Results...

  Last night's elections were very eventful, but extremely successful, not just for the Parent Association... excuse me... the new Parent-Teacher Association, but also for our school community.

  The parents in attendance endured a long, but productive evening.  Through some minor technical difficulties and with plenty of patience, the parents in attendance were able to duly elect a new Executive Board for the Parent Association/Parent-Teacher Association and also vote to change the PA to a PTA.

  Here are the results from the elections:

  PRESIDENT (Current):

  • President Candidate, Cheyeanne Zeleya Heath, a 7th grade parent, was duly elected, uncontested, to the position of President on October 5, 2023 with 100% of the vote (unanimously).
  • No Second Candidate.

  TREASURER (Current):

  • Treasurer Candidate, Venica Heath, a 8th grade parent, was duly elected, uncontested, to the position of Treasurer on October 5, 2023 with 100% of the vote (unanimously).
  • No Second Candidate.

  SECRETARY (Current):

  • Secretary Candidate, Chaney Matos, a 6th grade parent, was duly elected, uncontested, to the position of Secretary on October 5, 2023 with 100% of the vote (unanimously).
  • No Second Candidate.

  1ST VICE-PRESIDENT (Current):

  • 1st Vice-President Candidate, Serena Rodriguez, a 7th grade parent, was duly elected, uncontested, to the position of 1st Vice-President on October 5, 2023 with 100% of the vote (unanimously).

  • 2nd Vice-President Candidate, Tahesha Perry, a 6th grade parent, was duly elected, uncontested, to the position of 2nd Vice-President on October 5, 2023 with 100% of the vote (unanimously).

  It cannot be emphasized enough just how important tomorrow's election is to our school community.  The effect it will have on our school will be huge.  Depending on whether YOU, the parents, show up tomorrow and elect a new President, Treasurer and Secretary of the PA Executive Board, and if we can get those THREE (or FOUR) EXEPTIONAL PARENTS to take on the executive board member roles, those things will determine whether or not the Parent Association, and our school community, start off the school year successfully.  THE SCHOOL NEEDS YOU and the PARENT ASSOCIATION NEEDS YOU!
